She bears a strong background in internal control systems, business management, operational reporting, and risk management training. Laila has proven success in developing and executing robust strategies, policies, procedures, developing effective reporting standards for senior management and with driving process improvements.

Laila is proficient in collaborating with various stakeholders and clients to achieve exceptional results and providing robust solutions to resolve complex issues, while retaining and enhancing effective controls.

She started her career at HSBC with the Special Asset Management group and took on her next promising role in Regional Risk management with Risk Analytics, for delivering the Banks Basel 2 implementation aligned with global regulatory standards. Her role was an integral part of the Banks data quality programme to achieve the pre-requisite regulatory accuracy standards for IRB based Capital Reporting.

Laila’s next role had her responsible for oversight of Wholesale Risk Data Governance for the MENA region by Implementing robust framework to deliver compliance with regulatory requirements i.e. Basel Committee for in-scope countries in the MENA region.

Her next progressive assignment was with the Wholesale Credit and Market Risk team as Traded Risk Control Manager. Over the next 5 years, Laila was responsible for leading transaction compliance for market and credit risk exposures related to Group’s Regional Treasury activities as well as evaluate various high quality reports produced by Treasury Risk assistants to enhance operational efficiency of treasury investment and liability activities.
