Derek Lunt

In his career, Derek has amassed 40 years banking experience across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. After studying at Oxford University, he joined HSBC in London working with the group for 33 years in corporate and investment banking (including the financing of multi-billion dollar merger and acquisition deals), international trade finance, cash management and retail banking.
In 2015, Derek was headhunted to become Deputy Group CEO for Ahli United Bank Group based in Bahrain. In 2018, he set up his own consultancy Broadwood Advisory based in the UAE and his main role recently has been as advisor to the MD & CEO of Banque Saudi Fransi in
Riyadh. Overall, Derek has spent the last 13 years in the MENA region working across all GCC markets, Egypt, Algeria, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq.
Derek has obtained a BA Honours in Human Sciences from Oxford, the CEDEP General Management Programme from INSEAD and the Financial Times non-Executive Director Diploma. He is married with one son and based in the UAE.
